Question 1

What exactly is an agent skill, and why does it need verification?

Accepted Answer

A skill is a self-contained unit of capability — typically a SKILL.md instruction package plus references — that teaches an agent how to do something. Because anyone can publish one and ~of published skills carry at least one vulnerability, SkillzBench verifies every version: pinning it to a commit SHA, validating it, license-checking it, security-scanning it, and quality-judging it.

Question 2

How does SkillzBench measure whether a skill actually helps my agent?

Accepted Answer

Through the Benchmark pillar: every skill is tested in a sandbox with the same model, once with the skill and once without. The difference is published as Lift in percentage points — always shown separately from ratings, and money never touches scores.

Question 3

Which agent runtimes and skill formats does SkillzBench support?

Accepted Answer

At launch, SkillzBench covers instruction-only skills (SKILL.md plus text references) for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and chat-app agents. Script-bearing skills are listed link-out only, so you always know exactly what you're getting.

Question 4

When can I start using SkillzBench?

Accepted Answer

SkillzBench is pre-launch and actively being built. The waitlist and newsletter are live now — join to get notified as each of the five pillars (Discover, Verify, Benchmark, Equip, Stay current) rolls out, plus early access to Pro, Teams, and Creator tiers.

Question 5

How is SkillzBench different from just browsing GitHub for skills?

Accepted Answer

GitHub gives you raw, unverified packages with no evidence of whether they work. SkillzBench dedupes the crawl, pins versions, runs security scans and license checks, publishes measured Lift, and gives you per-agent loadouts through one MCP server — turning a guessing game into an evidence-based decision.
