Question 1

What is MCP and why does server quality matter for AI agents?

Accepted Answer

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard connecting AI agents to external tools and data. The ecosystem exploded — the official MCP Registry held 9,652 latest server records as of May 2026 — but quality varies wildly. Incomplete tool descriptions and bad schemas cause agents to make wrong calls, which is why independent verification and benchmarking matter before you connect anything.

Question 2

How does SkillzBench measure whether an MCP server or skill actually helps?

Accepted Answer

Through Benchmark: every skill is tested in a sandbox with the same model, once with the skill and once without. The difference is published as Lift in percentage points, always shown separately from ratings. Money never touches scores, so the results stay independent.

Question 3

What are the security risks of connecting third-party MCP servers?

Accepted Answer

MCP tool poisoning, prompt injection, and PII exposure are documented attack vectors, and published research found roughly of agent skills carry at least one vulnerability. SkillzBench addresses this with security scans, license checks, validation, and commit-SHA version pinning on every skill, plus a 0-100 trust score built from security, quality, license, maintenance, and community signals.

Question 4

When can I start using SkillzBench, and what will it cost?

Accepted Answer

SkillzBench is pre-launch and actively being built — the waitlist and newsletter are live now. The pricing hypothesis includes a generous free tier, a Pro plan (~$9-15/mo) for more agents and unlimited enabled skills, Teams (~$15-25/seat/mo) for org loadouts, allowlists, and audit, and a Creator plan (~$5-10/mo) for verified authors.

Question 5

How is SkillzBench different from MCP directories like MCP.so or Glama.ai?

Accepted Answer

Directories list — SkillzBench tests. Directories like MCP.so catalog 21,000+ servers with little quality signal, and studies found more than half of marketplace entries are invalid or low-value. SkillzBench continuously crawls and dedupes, pins versions to commit SHAs, security-scans, benchmarks Lift in a sandbox, and provides per-agent loadouts through one MCP server.
