Question 1

What exactly is an agent skill and why does it need testing?

Accepted Answer

Agent skills are SKILL.md instruction packages for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and chat-app agents. They're everywhere now, but published research found ~of skills carry at least one vulnerability. SkillzBench is building the testing lab that verifies, scans and benchmarks every skill so you know which ones help and which are risky.

Question 2

How does SkillzBench measure whether a skill actually improves my agent?

Accepted Answer

Through our Benchmark pillar: every skill is tested in a sandbox with the same model, run with and without the skill, and the Lift is published in percentage points. Lift is always shown separately from ratings, and money never touches scores — so the number reflects performance, not marketing.

Question 3

Can SkillzBench handle skills that contain scripts or code?

Accepted Answer

At launch, SkillzBench covers instruction-only skills — SKILL.md plus text references. Script-bearing skills are listed link-out only, so you can find them but they aren't verified or benchmarked in the sandbox. This keeps the launch scope focused on the instruction layer where most risk and confusion lives.

Question 4

When can I start using SkillzBench?

Accepted Answer

SkillzBench is pre-launch and actively being built. The waitlist and newsletter are live now — joining gets you launch updates and early access as each pillar comes online, starting with Discover and Verify, then Benchmark, Equip and Stay current.

Question 5

How is SkillzBench different from just browsing GitHub for skills?

Accepted Answer

GitHub gives you raw SKILL.md files with no verification, no security scan, no license check and no performance data. SkillzBench pins every version to a commit SHA, validates and scans it, assigns a 0-100 trust score, benchmarks the Lift in a sandbox, and tracks upstream changes with re-scans and notifications.
